The Galtier Society, together with the Archdiocesan Office of Family, Laity, Youth, and Young Adults hosted a wonderful Mass of Thanksgiving and Remembrance for Law Enforcement and Emergency Personnel.  The event was substantially bigger than last year, thanks to the efforts of the Archdiocese in getting the word out and the wonderful job Archbishop Flynn  has done in supporting and celebrating the Mass.

*On a busy day for the Galtier Society, two different groups reached out to answer calls of help in the community. The first was through the monthly service work at the Catholic Charities Furniture Warehouse, helping the indigent in the greater Minneapolis/St. Paul Area gather the furniture essentials, distributing everything from beds for children to kitchen tables upon which families can share their meals. The Galtier Society also sent a contingent over to the Missionaries of Charity Home in SE Minneapolis to help them paint and put the home in working order as the Sisters prepare to open the home to single and unwed mothers. We want to thank the participants in both service projects for manifesting our Lenten pledge to serve the poor through the Galtier Society events! If you would like to participate in future events, please stay tuned to this website.

* Lenten Day of Recollection

On Feb. 12th, the Galtier Society came together at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church to celebrate mass and explore the role of forgiveness and reconciliation in our lives. Paul Ruff led an in-depth look at forgiveness in the family and workplace, outlining the psychological effects and benefits of making forgiveness and reconciliation with our fellow men and women a part of our everyday lives. Fr. Chris Beaudet then explored the Sacrament of Reconciliation within the context of the Prayer of Absolution. We appreciate everyone who attended and the universal positive feedback. Special thanks to Mr. Ruff and Fr. Beaudet for taking time out of their busy schedules to be with us.”

Despite the cold, the Galtier Society had a great turn out at the January Catholic Charities Furniture Warehouse event, helping people to pick out sorely needed furniture, making deliveries, and taking donations. Thanks to all who participated!

* Thank you to all who participated in the University LifeCare Center baby drive during Advent, it showed the true spirit of Christmas as we prepared for the birth of our Jesus! The Center received generous donations of formula and diapers to help support underprivileged mothers give the care and nourishment to their infant children.

“Thank you so much, Galtier Society, for your generosity!” Chris Gustafson, Executive Director, University LifeCare Center.

* The Galtier Society held its Inaugural Event, on October 20th, 2004, at the Frey Auditorium on the University of St. Thomas Campus in St. Paul. The event was highlighted by Fr. Peter Laird’s talk, "Living Our Faith Without Regret nor Without Friends, What we Owe to Father Lucien Galtier". Download a PDF copy of Fr. Peter Laird's talk.

The event was a rousing success. Thanks to all who participated!
Stay tuned, the next of Fr. Peter's talk coming soon!

* The November 20th Service event at the Catholic Charities Furniture Warehouse saw a wide variety of worthwhile activities. Galtier Society members picked up and delivered furniture, took donations, cleaned an organized the itinerary, and most importantly, had a chance to serve the needy in our Archdiocese. Thanks to all those who participated and we look forward to the coming chances to serve the Furniture warehouse in the New Year (for upcoming dates, please see the Upcoming Events page on this site).
